Automatically Associate Opportunities to Conversations

Sales and customer-facing teams often forget to link their activity to the correct opportunity in Salesforce. To solve this, Administrators can enable Automatic Opportunity Association, a smart fallback system that links unassigned conversations (calls and meetings) to the most relevant related opportunity.

This not only improves data completeness but also enhances the quality of downstream analytics, coaching tools, and insights — all while saving time for reps and managers alike.

Note that users still have the ability to override the Opportunity selection from within the RingDNA Dialer and Moments application.

Enable Auto Link Opportunities

To enable Auto Link Opportunities, navigate to the Revenue App.

  • Click Settings
  • Click Account Management
  • Scroll down to the Opportunity Automation section
  • Designate an auto linking strategy to associate conversations to opportunity records

Apply to Roles

This option controls which user groups the automatic opportunity association logic applies to. This allows Revenue Operations and Admins to target specific teams—like sales reps or customer success managers—while avoiding unwanted associations for others, such as support agents or internal staff.

Available Configurations

  • Do Not Auto Link Opportunities (Default)
    Conversations will not be automatically linked to any opportunity.
  • Only link if one Opportunity exists
    Associates only if there is a single opportunity associated with the conversation participant.
  • Link to the open Opportunity with the most recent activity date
    Associates to the open opportunity that was most recently active (e.g., recent emails, calls, updates).
  • Link to any Opportunity with the most recent activity date
    Associates to the most recently active opportunity, regardless of whether it's open or closed.
  • Link to the open opportunity with the next close date
    Associates to the soonest-closing open opportunity.
  • Link to any opportunity with the next close date
    Associates to the soonest-closing opportunity, regardless of status (open or closed).
  • Link to the open opportunity most recently created
    Associates to the newest open opportunity based on creation date.
  • Link to any opportunity most recently created
    Associates to the newest opportunity, whether open or closed.
