How labels work

Labels are freeform names that you can apply to sequences to organize the sequence library. Examples include Top of Funnel, Restaurant Industry, Q3 Event, or EMEA.

Labels are organizational only. They do not change sequence execution, enrollment, eligibility, or automation behavior.

Key behavior includes:

  • A sequence can have zero or more labels.
  • Label names are not case-sensitive.
  • Labels are shared across the sequence library.
  • Sequence Admins manage the available label set.
  • Users can apply existing labels to sequences they can access.
  • Deleting a label removes it from every sequence where it is applied.
  • Labels do not change sequence visibility. Filters only return sequences the user already has permission to access.

Manage labels

Sequence Admins create, rename, and delete labels from Guided Selling settings.

Create a label

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the label-management area.
  3. Select New Label.
  4. Enter a unique label name.
  5. Save the label.

The new label becomes available for sequences in the library.

Rename a label

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the label-management area.
  3. Find the label you want to rename.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Update the label name.
  6. Save your changes.

The updated name appears anywhere that label is already applied.

Delete a label

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the label-management area.
  3. Find the label you want to remove.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.

Important: Deleting a label removes it from every sequence where it is currently applied.

Apply labels to a sequence

Apply existing labels from the Sequences list.

  1. Open Sequences.
  2. Find the sequence you want to organize.
  3. Open the sequence menu.
  4. Select the label-management option.
  5. Select one or more existing labels.

You can apply multiple labels to the same sequence.

Note: If the label you need does not exist, ask a Sequence Admin to create it first.

Filter the Sequences list by label

Use the Label filter to narrow the Sequences list.

  1. Open Sequences.
  2. Select the Label filter.
  3. Select one or more labels.
  4. Apply additional filters as needed.
  5. Clear the Label filter to return to the full list.

When you select multiple labels, the filter returns sequences that match any of the selected labels.

Labels only filter sequences already available to the user. They do not expand sequence visibility.

Filter Add to Sequence by label

Use labels to narrow the available choices when manually adding a Lead or Contact to a sequence.

  1. Open Add to Sequence.
  2. Select the Label filter.
  3. Select a label.
  4. Select the sequence you want to use.
  5. Continue the enrollment process.

The available results remain limited by the user’s existing sequence visibility.

Plan a useful label set

Keep labels simple and consistent so they remain useful as the sequence library grows.

Consider labels for dimensions such as:

  • Team or region
  • Campaign
  • Product
  • Industry
  • Funnel stage
  • Event or initiative

Avoid creating multiple labels that mean the same thing. Because label names are not case-sensitive, capitalization alone does not create a distinct label.

Bulk label assignments

For large sequence libraries, label assignments can also be managed in bulk through Salesforce data tools.

Before publishing bulk Data Loader instructions, confirm the exact API names for the label object, sequence-label relationship object, and relationship fields used by Guided Selling v13. Once those names are confirmed, document the export, CSV preparation, insert, delete, and verification steps here.

Important: Bulk data operations bypass Guided Selling UI confirmations. Review all records before inserting or deleting label assignments.
